It is with great happiness that we announce that Trixie has an adopted "big brother". Last week, we adopted Corrie, a red and white pembroke who was needing a home due to divorce. We honestly did not know if Trixie would welcome this friendly fellow into our house and accept him. After a rough 48 hours, they started to become friends and enjoyed play fighting and hours of chasing, sounds of clenching teeth and water everywhere! They are still a little weird on the food issue, but are doing so much better.
We asked for advice from other corgi owners as well as non-corgi owners. We felt that an older, more stable dog would be better for Trixie. It was also recommended that the dog be a boy, for balance. Since Trixie has always been "Queen" here, she remains so; she lets Corrie sit and sleep where ever he chooses. She does, however, try to push him away when he is being loved. She is getting better about possessiveness and is growing up now. She is even more calm now than she was before...most be all that spent energy!
Corrie is 3 and is as sweet as they come. He is a snuggler and he makes you pet him. He loves car rides, especially with the wind in his face. He loves to sleep in our bed with us at night; him and Trixie snuggled and sharing mommy's leg for a pillow. Our family finally feels like it is complete. In my heart, there will always be room for more corgis...don't know how Trixie will feel about that! I will be posting some new pictures soon of Corrie. Him and Trixie are so great together! Walks in the rain have never been more amusing. I have never longed for human babies, though my parents still pressure me and George...ummm, never! But, having these two fuzzy and furry torpedos, gives me such joy to come home and sadness to leave. I can't wait to have them pull me to the floor so they can kiss me hello! A wise woman on here said that Trixie is possessive of me. She's absolutely right...what's more, is that I am so possessive over Trixie and Corrie. I want them to experience every friendly face, human/canine/feline and just keep loving them. I want to always be loved by my "kids". Though Corrie's former family miss him everyday, they can sleep well at night knowing that their baby is loved and cared for; 2 feet and 4! I email/text them regularly with updates. They like that and it makes me happy knowing that we could be to Corrie what he was to his former family. Trixie agrees. She loves having a moving, barking, furry target/toy!
Cheers!
