A new trick

So I taught Scarlet this new and amazing trick: when you point your finger her like a gun, and say "Bang!", she rolls over and plays dead.

I am SOOOOO happy she learned this. It took 2 days, and that's it. I'm glad she's so young so I can mold her mind!

Once she layed down for me (I would tap the floor in front of her and that was her cue to lay down) I actually pushed her over and said, "Play dead!" all excited like. So from a lay down position I pushed her little head, and she actually rolled on her back. For the first couple times I held her in the upside down "play dead" position and would re-state "PLAY DEAD!". (If you're enthusiastic they get it more). Repetition is key here, so I did this a bunch. After a while i would only need to tap her cheek and she'd do it for me. A couple more times down the line she'd just roll over to the command "Play Dead!". Then the other day I was like, "Let me try THIS trick..." From the lay down position I pointed my finger and said BANG!, then quickly said Play dead. She remembered the play dead command, so she'd do the trick for me. Eventually, after putting those two commands together, I took off the "play dead" and just kept saying BANG! She got it in like, a couple hours!! And Scarlet only responds to treats....no praise.....so she'd only do it for me if I had something in my hand. Now I point my finger at her and say Bang! and she rolls right over: her little feet in the air and she lays real still. It's really cool.
