My neighbor girl got out her hello kitty accessories to play. Her dad sells temporary medical insurance and set up a laptop mount for my house one weekend. While they were visiting with us, she was only interested in playing with her kitty stuff which got me homesick for having a pet. We had a sweet cock-a-poo who passed away from old age a few years ago and are finally considering another dog for a pet. Are Corgis friendly with children? Are they easily trainable? We are watching the local humane society but are also wondering about a Corgi. It's very interesting to learn about different breeds of dogs since they are all so different.

oh yeah, very easily trainable, very smart.

With kids, I hear they are friendly (I don't have kids yet, but we will see!) but that they can nip at heels if kids are running around. Pretty sure you can train that out of them, but of course, there are always stubborn dogs. Corgis have a loud bark which can sometimes scare kids I have met, but I think if its your kids and they're used to it, it will be fine.

Corgis are wonderful with children! If you are looking for a corgi through a shelter or humane society you would need to ask them if the corgi they have is child friendly though! You can look at my photos as I have a few with my grandchildren. I do have a rescue who is scared to death of babies crying but ok with older children so it might depend on the dog! Wiley never experienced children as a puppy mill dog and I believe this is why! Most corgis are very easy and willing to learn especially when treats are involved. They are highly intelligent so they learn quickly but can also figure out things you might not want them to learn. Firm but gentle and consistent training is very important! Corgis have this wonderful personality!

Corgis are excellent with children once you get the herding instinct under control. They say corgis are not recommended in a house with children under 5, but again, with proper training; they are wonderful. Check out the forums here and read up on the wonderful world of corgis.
