Autumn diagnosed with encephalitis

Well 2 weeks ago the whites of Autumns eyes were showing at the top of her eyes and she was a little bit "off". Not normal Autumn/corgi off but "off". Just not herself. I took her to the vet they did tons of testing and nothing really showed up. Last Tuesday Autumn was in visible pain. Backing up in circles panting and gaurding herself not wanting to be touched. We took her to the vet and they decided she probably had a slipped disk. Disc? Anyways they gave her a steroid and a pain shot and pain pills. All seemed good. Two days later she's worse. Backing in circles, loss of bowel control trembling which eventually (an hour later) made her go into shock. We took her back to the vet and it turns out she has encephalomyelitis. Inflammation of the brain and spinal cord. We aren't sure what type she has yet but so far she's responding well to high doses of steroids for the inflammation, antibiotics for paossible infection, pain medicine and pepcid to calm her tummy. She's started eating again and drinks tooooons of water. So she has had some more accidents in the house which is no big deal. I had no idea how common encephalitis is in dogs.

We're hopeful for full recovery!

Poor girl, sounds like she was in tons of pain.  Hope she has a full recovery.

Hope Autumn feels better soon and recovers fully.  The steroids definately make them pee more often, and it is harder to control, when they have to go, they go.
