On Saturday we participated in Moses Lake's First Annual Bark for Life event sponsored by the Frontier Middle School Builders Club and the Kiwanis. Our kennel club had an information booth, grooming demo, agility and rally courses set up. Turn out was pretty good for a first time event. There were several other booths including a microchip clinic by one of the vet clinics, groomers, boarding kennels, rescue groups, pet supply and food vendors. Ashton sported his CGC bandanna promoting the benefits of being a well behaved dog in public and was more than happy to receive tons of attention from said public. Ashton walked in support of his doggie housemate Brynner who is a cancer survivor and in memory of Heston who's Hemangiocarcoma took him to the Rainbow Bridge far to soon.
There was a car wash, giveaways, silent auction as well as several contests. Luckily there was a Shortest Tail contest which Ashton took First place with his smooth bottom beating out a French Bulldog named Chip. His prize was a cute little blue ribbon made by the members of the Builder's Club and a bag of biscuits. We had a ton of fun and are looking forward to next year. :)
On Sunday we went to Graham, Washington for the Cascade Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club's AKC Sanctioned Specialty Match. John and Ashton did great! They qualified and took First Place in Novice A with a score of 90! It was a great chance to practice plus there were tons of corgis, a silent auction and shopping for corgi related items. Oh, and to make things even sweeter, there were corgi puppies there too! They were so cute!
If Ashton does as well as he did at this Match then getting his final leg in Rally Novice A at the Yakima Trial is going to be a walk in the park! We just have to make sure my husband doesn't have any "pilot errors" with his handling! lol
