Wow the last two weeks have gone by so fast! I think we're all getting the hang of the new routine and starting to move out of the test phase into settling in. These past two weeks we've had to tend to some minor injuries...

Last week at M's Dash's had a slight limp on his front left leg... most probably abrasions from walking around the city a lot more and his new morning run routine at M's. His nails were also getting worn down much faster too and bleeding slightly from the extra concrete mileage. He also managed to get a small cut on his left hind leg towards the front of the meaty part that was scabbed up when I picked him up last Sunday, not sure what happened there. So I dropped off some epsom salts at M's as well as his winter booties earlier in the week so she could give his little paws some daily soaks to help. She also eased up on his walks and park play time so he could have more down time to heal.

When I got him last Sunday he was still limping and his nails were still pretty short. I continued the epsom salt soaks after his shortened walks and alternated park days this week as well. With all the extra down time everything has seemed to improve back to normal. :)

So it hasn't been all doom and gloom, though it might sound that way from the above haha! Dash snagged a lot of BBQ on Sunday when we hit the Big Apple BBQ at Madison Square Park. Also his sweet new doggie door (the patio pacific thermo panel IIIe) arrived yesterday! I installed it last night and trained with him a bit and he picked up on how to use it super fast! Check out this 30 minute time lapse video of the whole process! I gotta edit down the other video I took with my second camera that shows him figuring out the doggie door... will post that up at some point later.

All in all my initial impression is that it was well worth the $$$$$. Luckily for me the cost has been offset now that Dash's been good enough to hang out uncrated at home, meaning fewer doggie daycare bills! Cost aside, the panel/doggie door is super solid and installs pretty much without any tools. The magnetized flap is a pretty cool design innovation, though I wish the magnetic strength was stronger up the sides, especially towards the corners. I spent this morning fine tuning the panel's placement and sticking on the weather stripping as well as adjusting my existing sliding door so there's virtually no air/light gaps where it meets the panel. The real test will be when winter rolls around and how well the edges keep the cold out... I'll probably use a charley bar then to push the sliding door tighter against the weather stripping to make a really tight seal.

Dash seems to have already integrated the new doggie door into his routine... he went to chill on the balcony this morning without any cues from me, but then it started raining so he scrambled back in and has been chillin' right by the doggie door since haha!
