Two years ago, my aunt moved down to Texas from Michigan to be with her daughter. While she was down there she ended up in an apartment that limited the number of cats she could have. So I took one to live with me and she kept the other. She always planned to move back to Michigan and I knew that one day she'd come to pick up Lily.

Last night Lily left for her new home. Lily and Nora never really became friends, but Nora sure did enjoy following her around the apartment, doing the best to herd her. I knew Lily might be relieved to get away from the constant attention of the dog, but Nora seems very sad.

After I cam in from helping my aunt get Lily into her car, Nora was sitting outside the bathroom, peering into the litter box for her. She calmed down a little bit later and slept on the bed with me all night. But after I took her outside this morning she ran around the apartment, checking the cat perch (that wouldn't fit in my aunt's car), the stools in the kitchen, the bed and Lily's favorite place to sleep, the papasan chair. She actually put her paws up on the edge of the chair to get up and look. I know it will take her some time to get used to not having Lily around. But who knows, I may have to get her a kitten.

I'm sure your aunt was glad to be able to bring her home, she is beautiful. Dogs like to have friends, Nora would probably love to have a kitty of her own.

That is so sweet! I am also planning to adopt a kitten. But Lulu is very submissive and gentle and we are concerned that she might be bullied by cats....

WOW...they even matched:) That would be great if you could adopt a kitten from a humane society...around here we have several babes up for adoption. Poor Nora...I hope you get a new friend soon. Keep us updated.
