Caden turned 1 on July 5th. I'm quite amazed at how fast the time has gone and that he's been with us for 9 months.
The profile pic is Caden's official birthday picture, taken when we just left the dog park, and you can tell he had a great time.
I had thought of going to the bakery to get him a birthday treat but I thought it would be more fun to make something myself, and wanted to share the recipe with you all. It can easily be modified to include anything you want or, ahem, the dog wants.
Caden's Freezer "Baked" Birthday Cake - with yogurt icing
1/2 cup dry kibble
1/2 banana
1-2 tbsp of peanut butter
3 oz (or 1/2 container) Fat free plain yogurt
Cupcake pan (i have one of those flexi ones, which makes it a bit easier)
"Cook" time: 2 hours in the freezer
I grounded up the kibble, mooshed the banana, added the peanut butter and a few tablespoons of yogurt. Mixed it up and put into the cupcake mold. I was able to make 3 cupcakes. And put the pan in the freezer for an hour.
Removed the 'cupcakes' and used 2 for the cake, stacking one on top of another, and then used the remaining yogurt as icing. And put back in the freezer for about an hour.
I cut up the extra cupcake into pieces for treats for the rest of the week. I just put them in a ziplock bag and kept in the freezer.
And I think the pictures tells the rest of the story ;-)
