Cardi vs. Pem

It's funny.......since I was a youngster, and had our first Corgi/Beagle mix, "Corky", I've always been fond of Pembrokes. Almost to the point of totally ignoring the fact that Pems aren't the only Corgi. I've not seen many Cardis around my area (Northern Indiana, USA).

But since joining MyCorgi.com I have seen more pictures of the most gorgeous Cardigans! And I've totally fallen in love with them as much as Pems! I have to say, nothing beats that tail-less butt.........the cutest rear-end on the planet, in my mind.........

But Corky had a tail.....and yeah, looking back, he could have been a Cardi/Beagle mix!

I'm seriously thinking that my next Corgi might just have to be a Cardi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comment by Incorgiable on June 13, 2009 at 4:55pm: At one time the AKC didn't distinguish between the two corgi lines. I have a pembroke who has a few strong cardigan traits and wonder if he has cardigan ancestors. He's wonderful!

Comment by ChestersMom on January 7, 2009 at 6:31pm: Chester has never been good with other dogs. Although when we had Zorro, he was pretty good. Maybe it's just when he's on his leash that he's defensive because he feels he can't properly defend himself.

I chose the Cardi for the tail, and I guess thinking since they are bigger, a Cardi might do better on my farm with 2 Great Pyrenees and a boxer. But all the Pem people love their Pems and they are truly adorable! I cannot wait to get my puppy this Friday- then I can actually add more to the blogs. Right now, I am still patiently waiting!! So when I get her, we are close enough we should arrange a play date, then you can see a Cardi in person!

Comment by Alice on January 6, 2009 at 2:42am: I've been around both Cardis and Pems and they are both great. While they share some similarities, they have many differences as well. It was hard deciding which one to get but we decided on the Cardigan and we're very happy with our decision. Maybe somewhere down the road we'll get a little Pembroke sister for Finnigan. :) You just can't go wrong with a Corgi!
