Hi all;

Boris is about two years old we live in DC and this summer have noticed a little chafing under his front underarms. the first time we noticed we called the vet and they said to apply a little neosporeun to it, which seemed to help. We recently left him with our friends for the weekend and noticed that it has come back a little worse. To make a long story short is there anyone else who has noticed chafing or experienced this with their corgi before? what did they use as treatment?

I know my younger guy Jake gets little spots of rubbed off fur on a bony spot of his front legs where they meet his body - I asked my vet about it once, and he said it's a very common, but like the others have mentioned, it's probably a good idea to at least check with your vet to make sure something else isn't going on.  P.S.  We're in DC, too!

You might want to ask the vet to do a skin scrape to rule out a yeast or fungal skin infection.

I was thinking the same as Anna...possible allergies.

Not sure what you mean by chafing.... I usually associate the word with something rubbing against the skin and causing irritation ( like a harness ).  If nothing is rubbing,  I've had dogs with seasonal allergies, in which case a doggy T-shirt may help by protecting that area.  That underarm has no fur protection to speak of and Corgis are low to the ground.   Could he be getting irritated by anything he is coming in contact with? You may have to do a little detective work ... Best wishes.
