Hi all

I'm about to be a new Corgi owner. Have been researching the breed for a while and I think I found a puppy I want. My question is, he's very black with white....almost no tan. Is this considered a fault in a Pem?

It looks (from the picture) that your little boy will be a black headed tri. You can tell this by looking at the inside edges of the ears.  If the edges are black = BHT  if the edges are red = RHT (red headed tri) And if you see some tan on him then that's good, even if it's just a little.  It is considered a fault if they are only black and white.  But that would only be a problem if you are wanting a show dog.  As a pet..... the color is secondary to personality.  At least in my opinion : )

Good luck with your little one.  He looks like a real cutie!!

Thanks....after all the research I'd never heard that!! He's a darling boy. Nine weeks old. Both parents are super, too.

Tris are B & W at birth; the heads and shoulders/hips turn red in the first year.

A puppy-mill rescue?  Good for you both.  That missing ear will be a lifetime reminder of your bond.
