Our little Zander had a routine neuter surgery on Wednesday and now is back in the hospital.  He is dripping blood not only when he pees but all the time.  Sometime it just shoots out of him. Dr. went in to see if he could find the problem but couldn't see where the blood is coming from.  Has anyone ever heard of anything like this.  I am so worried.

Zander is finally home in the loving arms of his family. He is doing much better. We think the bleeding has stopped. They went in for another surgery to see if they could determine where all the blood was coming from. Everything looked clean. No busted veins or arteries. The blood was all contained in the bladder. After consulting with several Vets, our best guess is that he is allergic to the anesthesia. It has a big long name I can not remember but it would make his bladder thicken and then the capillaries would bleed and this could cause a lot of blood like we were seeing. Of course he was given more anesthesia for the second surgery before we found that it could be causing the problem. They gave him a couple shots of cortisone to slow down the bleeding and it seems to have worked. He has a lot more stitches than he did but seems to be no worse for the ware. He is now enjoying his first snowfall trying to catch the flakes in his mouth. gotta love those corgi! Thank-you all for all of your love and positive energy.

Did they do an ultrasound to see where he might be bleeding? I'd get another opnion if the Vet can't find the problem. I personally have never heard of this happening. I just got Peanut neutered 2 weeks ago and he's doing fine. I hope they find the problem real soon. Please, please keep us posted as to how Zander is doing. Our prayers go out to you and your family.

Any news yet????

The first two things that come to mind are either the vet didn't properly ligate the artery/vein so he is bleeding, or he has von Willebrand's disease which is a clotting abnormality that corgis can have. Hope he figures out the problem!
