We recently acquired a treadmill for weight loss purposes (ours, not the dogs) and both my furbabies are terrified of it.  If our bedroom door is open, Wrigley hides under the bed (27 lbs) and Ryno gets as close the under it as he can fit (31 lbs).  Do any of you have similar items that scare your big bad brave dogs?

Ryno is also scared of anything that blows in the wind (kites, balloons, banners, yard decorations, palm fronds).

Thank you.

Our new girl, Connie, will actively attack and bite the vacuum cleaner!

Jack usually runs towards anything that upsets him; he wants to chase it away or save us from it.  He has a special hatred for vacuum cleaners.  When he was an adolescent, he was afraid of anything with a long handle (broom, mop, etc) and I had to really desensitize him to it.  Otherwise he's not afraid of much, though unfortunately we can no longer visit adults with developmental disabilities because he had two bad experiences and now stays away.

Maddie, as far as I can tell, isn't afraid of anything.  Although when we got Boo, she went through a stage where she would curl up in the farthest corner of the house (against the wall of the downstairs bathroom or way over by the laundry room door).

Once we found a loose Pomeranian at 10pm at night.  We had to bring him in, of course,  We put him in an ex-pen and he barked and barked.   Jack lay across the top of the steps to the upstairs (protecting us) and Maddie hid in a corner and curled in a ball.  That pretty much sums up how they react to threats.....

Yeah, Billy knows the sound of his Daddy's alarm when he locks the doors.  His Daddy is away all week on work so when he gets home for the weekend he hears that horn and runs straight out the door to the gate.

Isn't it funny how they know the sound of a certain truck?  Max hears his daddy's pickup before it ever turns the corner and he starts his welcome home barking.

Funny about the FedEx truck, Billy actually knows the sound by heart and when he hears it (I take him to the office everyday) he RUNS to the door and waits for his cookie, he has even jumped into the FedEx truck.

cathie...Max hates the UPS or Fed Ex truck, goes totally bonkers.  Not afraid of it, I think he wants to attack them.

My Ellie is the same as yours, Kathryn.  Anything new or out of place is evil.  Luckily I'm a pretty tidy and organized person.

A big Fed Ex truck delivered big box to our house last week and Sky was afraid of the truck (he could see it through the window) and the box when I brought it inside. This is the first time he's shown definite fear (as opposed to caution) toward any new thing.  We have garbage trucks, moving vans, tradesmen and workers that come in trucks...but for some reason the Fed Ex truck really spooked him.

About the only things Max is afraid of is the hose...and I've never turned it on him...the lawn mower and thunder or fireworks  But I have to run over him with the Dyson to get him to move.  Now Katie...she is afraid of everything...vacuum, swifter, hose..if it moves or makes noise she runs except she not afraid of thunder and fireworks.  Go figure.

Bogart does NOT like umbrellas, folded or up.  There was once a discarded one on the side walk and we had to cross to the other side of the street to pass it!!
