So Saber didn't use to beg. You could eat food in the same room and she wouldn't care. Then came Easter...and Uncle Frank. Uncle Frank has a cattle dog that he lets eat whatever he wants. As he puts it, he could put a bowl of kibble and a bowl of human food next to each other and the dog will never go for the kibble. So why give it just kibble. *SIGH* Either way, we knew about his habits and told him not to give our dog table scraps. We weren't with both of them 100% of the time and I think he snuck her potato chips at some point. It was highly suspicious when we saw him come up the stairs with some and then dodge into the bathroom after we had put her in her crate for a nap. We told him not to, but does he listen? Nooo...! Anyone else have relatives who don't listen to you about your dog?

P.S. My sister in law didn't listen to me about not playing bite games with her hands, so now I'm trying to reverse that too! Auuurrrgghhh!

Years ago I lived next door to my parents and while I was away at work, they would give my Dalmatian all sorts of treats! When I moved to the country and he stopped getting all that extra junk food, he amazingly lost about 10 pounds!
My dad always lines up treats in preparation of his grandpuppies coming over. Thankfully he has started asking and listening, but that isn't always the case. He did very well on Easter with Noodles. My dad had lined up 2 "cookies" (bones) and 1 jerky treat. Instead, I allowed him to give Noodles 1 baby carrot (any more than that upsets his tummy) and 1 "cookie" and that satisfied both my dad and Noodles. Noods knows to go straight to Gramps if he wants a treat. Noodles barely lets my dad in our house because he knows Gramps always comes bearing a treat. Thankfully my mom backs us up and again, my dad is listening now. I do think it is adorable how Noodles knows if he wants something, go to Gramps and then in turn, my dad asks us for permission.
Well, it must be the name Frank, because my Father In Law would do the same thing with Lance. Even though we told him not to feed him table food, he did. Guess where Lance liked to hang out when we were at Grandpa Franks for dinner!!!
I feel for you about the hand games too...I had to convince my husband that it was a bad idea when he was a puppy, but he really didnt like listening. Luckily, it really didn't cause a problem, but still, not a good idea!!
