I also have two - a male and a female - they rarely get into true fights, but they often sound like they're going to kill each other.  What I've come to learn is that they're not actually going to hurt each other - they know how to fight without actually harming each other - if they were actually going to hurt each other one of them surely would have bled by now - and we've never even had tufts of fur fly during a squabble.

I don't know a lot about the animal kingdom, but just from watching mine I can tell when they're fighting cause they're mad vs. fighting because someone needs to die.  Mad fighting is snarling, snapping and body blocking.  If I stay out of it and just yell loud they'll stop.

OUCH!  I wasn't thinking and stuck my hand into a corgi tornado (at a corgi meet-up).  I ended up in a Richmond hospital emergency room and damn it hurt!  With my three, I watch for fixation; make certain that there is physical space when it comes to food product and having the gutteral, last resort command "BULLSHIT" when I need to startle them.  In view of the foregoing, however, there is lots of spitzhund tussling between two of the three.  One can discern the line from challenge to aggression if watching.  All the best, Nancy

Oh my Jacki, that hurts!!  With Jake and his sleep over girlfriend, they got into a little squabble and I used the training clicker.  (petco for $1.29)  they seem to stop long enough for me to pull them apart.  Hope you heal fast.

With our 2,Keri is the dominant at 2 yrs old and Merlin the 18 months old is definitely the "baby brother."They do the clacking teeth thingy alot, but no fights until We throw in Logan My 4 yr old grandpuppy, also a corgi. That is just too much for bossy Keri sometimes!!Logan went into Keri's toybox last nite, took her favorite toy and that really ticked Her off when He wouldn't let it go!!I've found if I can reach in without getting bit,by touching or "biting" her side,it ends super fast.Don't have to say a word! She apologized all nite!!

My 2 corgi's will also get into it on occasion and it's usally who will be closer to me. I watch body language closely especially if I'm on the couch with one and the other is approaching Teagen has two set of behaviors to watch 1 is ears flat back and the stare, body tense's the other is ears straight up and her body will tense with a slight forward lean. Jordan will always go ears straight up and tense. If this happens with me on the couch with the other approaching the one on the couch gets a firm no picked up and put in their crate. This has lessened the couch issue immensly because they don't like being removed from the fun. We have been discussing removing all couch priviliges but I kinda like them up with me and they have been starting to be able to co-exist on the couch. Teagen is 1.5 yrs old and Jordan is 2.5 so they are young. I have never sustained a bite and like mentioned remove the offender at the slightest move toward aggression. Good Luck =)

Soffie and Griffyn occassionally turn into a tasmanian tornado!!  teeth gnashing.... hackles up..... grabbing at each other!!  It usually starts out with them playing but escalates suddenly.  They haven't done it as much lately.  But whenever they have the way I have handled it (and been very successful) is to YELL NO at the top of my lungs and stomp my foot right by them.  I never try to physically insert myself in the tussle.  On occassion I have thrown a couch pillow at them too.  I think it's the startling effect that works.  Then, once they have settled down, which is always very quickly,  I sit on the floor between them and get them to "kiss and make up"  and they do!!   Definitely don't put yourself in the middle when they're going at it, sooner or later you're going to really get injured.

Sometimes you have to be quick to get out of the way too. When Superstar was here I had Bootsie on my lap and she didn't like that and got me instead.

Oh and there is usually "the stare" when something is going to happen.

Jackie, let them finish the fight. Then one will be the winner and the other the loser, I think it is just like brothers and sisters that get into it.
