Things have been going very well for both of us. It took nearly 3 months, but I think Poppy finally knows the schedule. There has been no pee in the pen while I have been at work in nearly 3 weeks! YAY!

The shy dog class we go to once a week has been good for both of us. We are both learning new skills and while she isn't exactly "treat motivated" (so un-corgi like!) I feed her her dinner by practicing our skills and that seems to work well for about 10 minutes a day. Also, I forgot to mention this before, I was reading on the Blue food website and there was a tip on how to get your dog to eat, which is to add a little warm water to the food "to release the taste and aroma" (their words, not mine, haha) and since I have been doing that, Poppy has been scarfing it down. AWESOME! I hated to have her graze all day and now I can feed her once a day and be done with it.

But her corgi-ness really came out this week in shy dog class. We started doing some agility tricks and she was the best in the class at them. She caught on so quick! She was the last to perform and she barked while everyone else did their skills and the instructor said that corgi's usually bark when other dogs are doing their skills. So funny to hear that! I am so glad her corginess is finally coming out. When we went hiking last week, everyone guessed she was a dachshund/chihuahua mix and when I asked what made people think she was a chihuahua, they all said it was her size, because she is pretty small (only like 12lbs). Pshaa! I think she is a dorgi, but whatever. She also is more willing to go up to people and "beg for a treat" aka: getting a pet, which is very good. Slowly, but surely she is getting better.

She is barking a lot in my building, but we are getting better at focusing on me when she can hear people in the hall, but she gets really excited when we go out, she barks (and lets everyone know she is coming) and it's hard to stop that as I just want to get her outside so she doesn't have an accident in my unit or the hall. We are also having some pretty bad issues on the leash (me having to pull her down a few blocks until we get a certain distance from my building) but I am going to sign us up for obidience class after shy dog class ends and hopefully we can work on that.

But to end on a good note, not only has she not pee'd in the pen in nearly 3 weeks, but she is pretty quiet once I leave my apartment during the day. Night is something else, as I rarely go out, but I do worry a little when I do. But she is getting better.

Have a great week!
