I just realized I haven't updated here since the 15th! Oy! It's been a very busy week and weekend. My schedule was totally off last week, thanks to jury duty (dismissed, YAY!!!!) but I was worried about what I would have done with Poppy if I had to sit on a case. Thankfully that is a non-issue this year and Poppy didn't even notice, except for the fact that last Tuesday was a verrrry long day.
There is a really nice daycare place about 15 minute drive away that does $20 Tuesdays, so I took her there last week and she is there this week and it's really great! They move the (small) dogs around all day and there are people in the pen areas all day with the dogs interacting with them, which is great. She was pooped when I picked her up last week and we still had shy dog class at night! She wasn't the most crazy one there, thankgod, but she still doesn't listen to me all that well. We do our best and I think she'll get better with time. I like learning all the new skills and tricks we can work on at our own pace.
Usually I would take Poppy to daycare on Thursday too, at the nice place that is walking distance from us, but I didn't last week because I had to board her all weekend (Fri-Mon) when I went out of town (on a trip booked before I got her). I boarded her at the same place I did over the holidays because it is the cheapest and she seemed fine. But going back to Thursday, it was kind of funny, she went CRAZY on Thursday night, running around, playing with everything. A good sign during a normal week when I'll take her to daycare on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Boarding was fine, from what I can tell so far. Very happy to see me this time!! And today is $20 Tuesdays, so unfortunately that is it for daycare for the week, so I am a bit worried about Thursday again, but I am sure we'll survive. We'll hang out and do our normal hiking this weekend and then back to normal next week.
And I have to say, she didn't pee in the pen AT ALL last week!!! My hopes are not high for this week, especially since she has essentially been in daycare for the last 5 days and we won't get to hang out tomorrow, like we did in December when I came back from the holidays. I am mentally preparing for that. Also, when I put on her Thundershirt last night, she kind of barked and whined, which she hadn't done since like December. Thankfully she stopped, but I need to figure out a new way to put it on her. I think she tricks me with her breathing sometimes.
Also last week, when I put her in her pen when I got ready for worked, she barked her head off while I was still in my apartment, but the moment I left, she stayed pretty quiet. Kind of funny. If she does stuff like that, I think I can live with it. The calming treats work well and I rotate them around a little bit. The two she is on right now work well and I got a different dosage of one (right now I give her two small dog treats and they work, so I got the same ones for large dogs so I'll only have to give her one) and another treat to try as well.
I'll try to update more, good and bad, but it's been 2 months and things are finally settling down. A great thing!!

It's so good to hear that things are settling in. :) She'll get better at listening the more you work with her, both in class and at home/in the neighborhood. I'm starting my own work with my two furballs, too, so it'll be nice to see how they all progress. I'm making my first attempt at clicker training so it should be a fun experience for me. XD Poppy has already come such a long way since you first brought her home, so keep up the great work! By the end of this year you'll wonder what you ever did without her!
