Tomahawk was born on Nov. 1 last year and we brought him home on Dec. 18th. I guess he was 8 weeks or a few days off from being 8 weeks when we picked him up. We got Fences off of craigslist when she was hitting the 3 month mark so I guess that's about the time that many people let go of their pups, though I have heard it is so much better for them to leave a little later since it gives them more time to socialize. How long is the breeder you are talking to keeping her pups before she lets them go off to their new homes?
We can have one of the pups from the upcoming litter from the breeder that is an hour away. There are a couple of people who have been waiting for tri colored males, so they'll have first dibs, but I don't want a tri anyway. So, if there are other males available we'll have our new pup. I'm just wondering how we'll feel if there's a male available and it's not a red and white. I doubt we'll want to wait for another litter from another breeder. The next litter I know of will not be born until the middle of November, and that breeder says they won't be ready to go to homes until late January. Did you get your Corgis as puppies, and if so, at what age did you bring them home ?
Hopefully one of the breeders pan out and can help you find a pup that looks like Winston. Have you heard anything back from them?
I've been communicating with one breeder about an hour from where we live in Tennessee who's expecting a litter in a little over a week, and have sent messages to three other breeders to find out if they're expecting any puppies. I really don't want to wait very long. I miss Winston so much it's terrible. I'm sure you've experienced the loss of a dog, so I don't need to tell you how it feels.
I hope that you can find a new corgi pup to love on. If I could, I'd send Fences to you so you can hug her, but she will probably just try to bite your face! Best of luck on your search, and I hope you find one soon!
@ Jane . . . : ) I just realized today that besides missing Winston terribly, I really, really miss hugging a Corgi. If we had more than one, like you, I'd have a Corgi to hug right now. : ) I find myself wishing I knew someone who had even one Corgi so I could visit them and hug their Corgi ! Have a nice weekend.
Glad to see someone with more Corgis than me:)
At about the one minute mark they're all scampering around and up and down the stairs of the airplane and even though the only audio is the music, if you listen carefully you can hear them all barking and yapping in the back ground. So darn cute. What was the deal with the one older looking one that no one was paying attention to as he was trying to walk up the stairs of the plane. I would have carried him up, I'm just saying. Then at 1:42 they start dropping out of the back of that little red car . . . . I love that. At 2:47 one guy hands another guy what looks to be a wrapped up blanket . . . probably has corgi fur embedded in it ! HAHAHA ! I can't imagine why 90% off them wear dark colored clothing. Not really a good choice if you're involved with Corgis.
My Chepstow thinks he is a royal corgi........My Tenby, well you can find him at the pub having a pint!
Corgis are just too classy! I'll probably buy me a pair of white gloves so that I can look just as snazzy as the queen when I take my two out for their daily walk.
