Funny thing happened yesterday

Yesterday night, I heard Ein barking in the backyard (probably at some intruders i.e. rabbits), and so for the fun of it, I decided to bark. After a pause, Ein barked in a different tone. Then my bf barked, and then Ein did a bark/howl combination. This back and forth went on 2 more times until I decided to bring Ein inside the house. And then when my bf barked once more in front of Ein, Ein looked really confused and didn't bark back.

I've decided I won't do this again because I don't want Ein to think that we're "crying wolf" and Ein will just shrug off the "noise".

But I wonder if dogs really send messages with their barks (unless my bf and I were really saying something in Dog!).

Comment by Ein Danger on June 21, 2009 at 2:24pm: that's so cute :) i've noticed that when ein gets real excited he'll bark. when i bark back at him he'll bark and we can go on and on. lol. my hubby will get annoyed and tell us to knock it off but we'll just lower our barks. ein will do "soft barks" instead.
