My little girl is growing up and she is getting spayed this morning. Im way stressed about it. LaVerne's whole body trembles when she is at the Vet and I HATE the thought of leaving her there. :o( I will be glad when this is all over. I hope I dont cry until I get back in the car....lol. Im such a wuss.
Right now LaVerne is looking up at me and doing every trick in her book trying to get a treat. Of course I cant give her anything to eat and she just cant believe it.....lol.
If anyone has words of wisdom about this surgery and what Im to expect when she gets home I'd appreciate it. I've never gone through this before.
Well Id best get ready to go. Wish us luck!!!

its going to be ok Tracey. When we had Spencer neutered, I was very nervous and anxious just like you are about LaVerne. Someone had posted here a while back about their dog getting neutered and one of the replies was so nice....get some special treats and/or toys when they get home and just keep her quiet...take care!

My Belle didn't have to wear the cone, but she was herself very quickly. As stated above it is quick and painless so to speak. She looks like Belle when she was little. They are great babies and we plan on more when we have the room. Take care and try not to worry.

Great post Carlie! Here's the "Pro Collar" that she's referring to.

I completely understand, I was working at the vet at the time when Kiwi was spayed, and I was a nervous emotional wreck (I even ended up crying and having to take a little break). What I can say, is that the surgery normally takes no more than 25 minutes (Kiwi's was done in about 20), and while Kiwi was definitely out of it right after the surgery, by the time you go to pick your baby up, I'm sure she'll be feeling 10 times better :). I think we take it harder than they do really, b/c they can't feel a thing and once they're home they are just so happy to be back. As far as when she comes home, she might be a little wobbly and a little out of it, it took Kiwi about a day to regain her normal play behavior, and it also took her about a day to regain her normal pooping schedule :). A word of advice, the cone that they have to wear is awful, so I bought the "pro collar" it looks like a little blue inner tube, it fits right around their neck, it's about $25, and well worth it b/c they don't run into the back of your legs, or furniture, plus it's more comfortable to sleep and eat with. I think they sell it at all major pet stores. Good luck today! Go find something to do to occupy your nervous energy, she will be fine!!! Have a great day!
