My best friends' little sister was teased today for liking to read...They even formed a group of all the girls to make a 'I Hate Angela Club'! She came home crying and refuses to read anymore. This-I believe, is one of the saddest things that can happen to anyone at a young age, having what makes you special ripped away from you. So In Angela's honor, I made this photoshoot of Darla as a tribute to all the amazing nerds out there! GO KNOWLEDGE!!!!!!!

Everyone knows that reading doesn't make you a nerd....math does! Hahahaha. Joking aside, How does one even make fun of someone for reading? We all do it...it's not like say, wearing your underwear over your pants. Keep on reading!!! And make no excuses! So keep reading Angela! We think it's awesome!! And seriously...this picture is adorable. :)

Nerds rule the world! Angela, you rock... don't let anyone make you feel like you aren't awesome just because you're a smart girl. How sad for people who never learn to enjoy the power of a great book, and how lucky Angela will be as she grows and discovers a whole world of literature available to her. Bullies stink.

I read to my kids from the time they were babies. It was precious to sit on the floor with the three of them gathered around me. All three are now voracious readers, and it has served them well. They now proudly embrace their nerddom. Like Michelle said, some day your friend's daughter will be the boss over those mean kids, wait and see! You'll need to show her all the support she's getting here on this site, as well as Darla's awesome photo. Sidney likes smart girls and has a crush on Darla now.

Hey Angela, don't you dare stop reading, young lady! There are too many awesome adventures waiting for you on those printed pages. And the reading gets better and better the more advanced you get. I still love to read and wish I had more time to do it! Those meanies can just stick it.

My daughter is a 'nerd', costs me more in books than clothes, my own fault, I'm the same way. We had to put up yet another bookshelf in her room last weekend! Reading is the absolute best thing a child can do, don't let her give it up!! Kids are so horrible to each other, it's a shame!

Worst thing about being a middle-school teacher is watching the way these monsters treat each other.
One of the best things is seeing that, often, they grow up.
One of the hardest things about parenting is teaching a kid how to stand up to bullies ("I understand you're jealous; I'd feel inadequate too if I was too stupid to read").
It might be useful to try to tell her that adolescent humans represent the worst of the species and that those bullies who do grow up will resent their childish cruelty if they're smart enough. Having been on both sides of bullying, I know this, to my sorrow.

The more I get to know people, the more I like my dogs.

I always told my kids that if their school years were the best years of their life they were in trouble. The majority of us are adults much longer than we are kids! Reading will always serve her well and you are helping her by expressing how special she is to you! Really cute photo!

Great Photo.....Smart girls rule....We had a particularly mean group of girls being unkind to a very smart girl that also liked to read. I usually have little to say as my husband and I do not have children....but one particular day someone made the comment that so and so was not being kind and making snarky comments....I could not help myself I looked up and said..."that's okay they will work for her (the smart girl) one day"...I never see that smart now teenager that she does not make it a point to speak....HEHEHEHEHE
