I finally have my new laptop (yay!), so I'm once again able to browse the 'net and admire all of the corgis here.  Hopefully I'll be able to blog more regularly again, and upload some shots of the ever-growing little pupster!

Ellie is just up over 10 lbs. now and is 20 weeks old.  She goes in for her spay and microchip this next week and then it's a couple of weeks recovery and off to puppy classes!  I had wanted to start classes already, but her shot schedule was a little off and then her spay was scheduled at 5 months rather than at 6 months.  Not that she's not already one smart little cookie!  She has learned her sit, down and stay commands (though stay needs a bit more work before it's truly reliable) and, best of all, she is finally housebroken!  Well, I can't officially label her as "housebroken" until she's had a few months with no accidents, but she hasn't had an accident in well over a week and she sits by the door when she wants to go out.  :)  Apparently all she needed was 1.5 weeks of being fed in her crate and not given house freedom until she does her business outside.  She got tired of that really quickly and now enjoys her previous freedom to roam the downstairs.

Since school is back in session, I have a little more free time in my day.  What better way to spend it than taking my pupster out for a morning stroll through the neighborhood!  I hook her up to the baby's stroller and off we go!  She loves the extra exploration and is starting to get the hang of walking alongside the stroller without pulling.  She still tries to dart off at times, but it's usually only at the beginning of the walk when she has the most energy.  It's going to be great when the leaves start to change color and fall to the ground.  She's going to be doing a lot of rolling and pouncing!

Poor Yuki gets left behind on our morning walks, as his leash manners seem to be at a stand-still.  He is completely unmotivated by food when outdoors, now.  Even when I take along his ultra-yummy salmon treats.  If he hears a dog bark or sees a person/animal then he shuts down and becomes completely focused on them.  Not in an aggressive way, mind you, but he barks and pulls and just won't stop until they are out of sight/hearing range.  I think I may need to set aside time for him in the spring, and finally start making that hour-long journey out to one of the not-ridiculously-overpriced trainers for some leash training.  I'm obviously not doing something right, or not doing what needs to be done, in order to correct this.  Hopefully the trainer will be able to train me so that I can help my Yookers behave like the gentleman that he is when he's at home!
