We have had great luck going through Vacation Rentals by Owner.....Alot of them are pet friendly!!!  ^,,^

If you are looking at Gatlinburg, I just googled smokey mountain dog friendly cabins and had a bunch of results!  I know how you feel though, I couldnt bear to leave mine at home over the summer, so Lilly went with to Branson MO.  The place we stayed was awesome and she was great in the car!  We packed a doggie first aid kit, and had local vet numbers just in case. But it went beautifully!!  Have fun!!

We found when we went to rent a place at the beach that TONS of places allow dogs, with a pet deposit.

www.petswelcome.com is a good site to check out. Depending on the area you're going (resort, vacation destination), you may consider renting a house - sometimes easier when traveling w/pets. It's good to get our furry kids used to traveling - good idea to take them along. Have fun on your vacation!
