So my puppy is almost 5 months old. Has all his shots and today he has been having diareah 3 times already. It's not bloody and he is still active and has a healthy appetite. So I don't think it's parvo. He also has been having a lot of eye boogers and the inner eye lid looks pink. I was thinking it was due to allergies. He also threw up white foam. Please help, thank you

Both of my corgis have shown signs of allergy to grass/pollen in spring time. I just wipe the paws off with a damp rag when we come in and if it's particularly windy, I'll run it over the whole body to wipe off most of the pollen. Unless a dog is scratching, biting, or licking to the point of irritating the skin, I personally don't think it's a good idea to start medicating, just like I don't think it's a good idea for humans, either, unless it's severe. A case of the runs after being given a new, rich food (canned meat) doesn't necessarily indicate an allergy to the food. Think of how you feel after eating too much rich food; you might have some stomach issues too, but you're not allergic to it. Did you check with the vet re: how much kibble to feed him? 2 to 4 cups is A LOT of kibble for a corgi pup OR adult. It's not a good idea to free feed a dog until they are full enough that they don't want to eat any more. Also, you can't drastically change a dog's (esp. a pup's) diet from day to day without having digestive issues. Is your kibble a high quality meat-based one or is it full of fillers? Corn tends to give dogs tummy problems.

Ok so Oakley seems a lot better. His poo is becoming more solid. I'm guessing it was the new canned meat I gave him. Have any of you experienced allergies with your dog? If so what can I do? Just wait it out? I heard puppies can be allergic to grass

Holy cow, 2-4 cups of kibble a day?!!  Jake is 28 lbs and gets 3/4 cup twice a day.

I'd also suggest calling the vet, but if his attitude/energy levels are normal and he's drinking, they will probably not be as concerned. Kaylee had BAD diarrhea once when we switched her food and once when we gave her one dental chew that didn't agree with her. Puppies can have sensitive stomachs.

For both of these instances, the vet suggested a 24 hr fast (with water available) and then a bland diet (like boiled chicken and rice) by the tablespoon every 2 hours for the first day. Then increase size and duration between meals. If the diarrhea doesn't return, start mixing in his regular food.

So, while you're waiting to call the vet, I'd start making some rice.

Call your vet for advice, but don't panic. WOW! That sounds like a lot of kibble for a 5 month old puppy. Remember, the kibble company wants to sell more kibble; check with your vet re: how much to feed. Sophie is 8 1/2 years old, 23 lbs., and she gets 3/4 cup kibble daily plus some treats. Does your kibble have corn listed as one of the main ingredients? You may want to try a brand with less filler if so. Corn can be hard for some pups to digest. Not to make a medical diagnosis but the white foam may be bile. If Oakley is having diarrhea he probably isn't keeping food in his tummy as long as usual. Sophie used to vomit bile at night when her tummy was empty. We started feeding three small meals rather than two bigger ones and that stopped. Call your vet for advice and peace of mind.

Molly had the same problem! When I talked to the vet, she said it was just her body getting used to the shots. After a few days she was fine :)

He also has been drinking a good amount of water, eating, and urinating fine. He's had de wormers as well.

It's been over two weeks since he got his last set of shots. He's been eating his dry kibble. He had some treats but I did start giving him a different brand of wet meat to go with his dry kibble. I'm thinking it could be that. I also increased his dry kibble by half a cup last night and maybe his stomach couldn't handle that much? He only eats a cup of dry kibble a day with a little bit of wet canned meat. At 5 months he should be eat 2-4 cups a day according to the back label of his food. I think he is small for his age. Only about 12 lbs

I'd call the vet and make sure he's not having an allergic reaction to the shots...

Hi Samantha, go and take his temperature. The problem with diarrhoea is dehydration, make sure he replenish the water loss. As far as allergies goes, make sure your home is not too dry, turn on the humidifier. Change your central AC filter, leave a damp towel next to your door, wipe him down upon each entering. Use saline to clean his eye.

Would you mind sharing what he put inside his mouth for the last 24 hours? that may give you an idea what could cause the diarrhoea, treats, food...etc.
