Not much choice in my town but we restock on 'special' treats when we go on a roadtrip to a town about 1/2 an hour away, they have more specialty products. For the most part the on hand treats for Po are little liver flavoured treats (can not remember their name), breath freshener chews (which he thinks are just the best thing ever) and Good-O's, which aren't the best quality treat, actually its sold as dog kibble. My Mum used to feed her dogs it when she was younger, and so he gets one or two a day in his treat toy. They're the only thing that wedges in there well enough to make it a challenge for him to get it out. If he's extra lucky he gets to lick te yoghurt container when someone's finished, and if I'm chopping veges he'll get some in his bowl. And in summer he loves to chse frozen peas across the floor.
I am glad to see I am not the only one keeping the treat companies in business. I do have a recipe book to make some of my own , but have not done that yet. I think when I was a little kid we gave our dog Milk bones, Liv-a-snaps and real bones. We did not have the choices we have today.
@Mitch Taco Bell out of the gutter, yea mine would probably grab that as well.
Titus gets little bits of grain-free biscuit and a bite of freeze-dried liver or cheese at bedtime. Mostly he gets tiny snacks of fruit and vegetables because any treats that are too heavily processed give him a stinky butt. Today he got carrot, radish (he adores radish), orange, heirloom beans and mango. Not all at once. When we really want to blow his mind, we'll let him lick the bowl when we have yogurt--he especially likes Fage and So Delicious coconut yogurt. But he'll also eat 3-week-old Taco Bell out of the gutter, so he's not quite the Brillat-Savarin we'd like to think he is.
