I Taste Better Than Toys

It's true. Optimus will pretty much choose me to nibble on/bite over any of his toys. So far he has a rope, a kong (the red rubbery things), a frisbee, a hedgehog, 2 tennis balls (extra strength), and a frisbee. Even with all those, I'm more fun to eat I guess. Is this just a puppy thing? He's only 9.5 weeks old and he's still learning quite a bit. I'm trying to substitute a toy whenever he starts biting me, but it only works about 25-50% of the time. It's not really bad now, but it's just something that I don't want developing into a bigger problem when he's older.

Comment by Destiny/Mini on March 8, 2009 at 8:44pm: i totally hear you on this one...Mini is always biting on us even when she is chewing on a toy...she'll catch our hand in corner of her view and ...bam...biting on us. i tried the yelping technique, but no luck sometimes that made her bite harder. now we say "NO BITE" everytime she nips....it seems like it's the only thing i say for 1/2 the day but it has worked for her to stop for a couple minutes. I always have a toy on hand though...ALWAYS, just to get her attention on something else. We are haingin in there and hopefully she will completely stop soon...good luck!

Comment by Judi, Dawn, Soffie & Griffyn on February 4, 2009 at 11:18am: It takes awhile.....we let out a yelp whenever Soffie or Griffyn used their mouths on us, and then substituted a toy. It gets better the older they get. Now Griffyn talks to us at times, but he dosen't use his mouth to nibble on us..
