It started snowing last Saturday in Hermiston, snowed most of Sunday, and Monday. My husband got stuck in it for 5 hours trying to get to work. Finally made it home safely thank God. They called his work off for the rest of the week so we opted to brave it and go down to my parents house in Vancouver Washington. Fun trip down haha.
Spent a couple of days there, headed back up the gorge for The Dalles where my mother in law lives, got stuck on the highway behind some jack knifed semi's for an hour or so. Oh, yeah I forgot to mention that while we were at my parents house we had early Christmas so we are now not just traveling with Levi and KC but now also a bunny. So anyway we are stuck on the interstate in a long line of traffic, the explorer packed to the gills including a luggage rack on top packed full with three kids, two dogs and a rabbit.
Finally made it to my mother in laws. It is STILL snowing, did I mention that the only time I have not seen it snowing since Saturday was on Tuesday? For a few hours.. Finally everyone gets to get out of the car and run around. For about 30 seconds. Then decided it was too cold. Anyway, on through night, still snowing, into this morning, still snowing. The kids decide to go out and play, and leave the front door wide open. Have I mentioned before that KC does not come? Backtrack for a second, while we were at my parents my husband gets the bright idea to go ahead and let her off of her leash because she will stay with Levi and he does come back when called. WRONG! He came back, she went down the hill to their pond, came back up, ran around the yard. Half hour later we finally got her corraled. Back to today....the front door is OPEN! So out go my two dogs into the huge snow drifts in the yard. And then across the street to the field where some neighbors are sledding. Let me rephrase this, across one of the two roads that border her property both of which are steep hills. My oldest son and I are out in two feet of snow trying to catch two very excited escaped delinquents. For once even my chicken dog Levi wouldn't come when called. I finally had to have the nice man sledding with his kids catch her as she went by. I do wish I had had a camera though when she went flying off the side of the hill and down, down, down, into the big snow drift lol. Needless to say I spent about half an hour in the very deep snow trying to catch my two dogs and finally caught them just as the snow plow was headed down the hill towards us. I am ready to go home where my dogs can go in and out through their doggy door into the fenced back yard. Happy Holidays to all. Drive safely.
