Hi,

I am new to this website and I would like to say hello to everyone! I am Krystal and my corgi is Mac, a Pembroke Welsh who is a 7 year old tri-color. I originally joined this site to discuss my options for his recently torn ACL... but unfortunately, late Tuesday night I got the bad news that Mac indeed has Lymphoma. I discovered his swollen lymph nodes late Saturday night and took him in a.s.a.p. I have an appt. with an oncologist on Tuesday to get the prognosis. Hopefully he renders better news than Mac's regular vet. We started him on the oral chemo process Tuesday night and his lymph nodes have gone down in swelling, his behaviour seems to be fine, but he is a little more tired than usual. Does anyone have experience with this? I have read blog after blog and I just can't comprehend what I am dealing with here. I know that there is not much I can do until I know the prognosis, but any words of wisdom are gladly accepted. I have decided not to go with the surgery for the ACL for obvious reasons, but I am also looking at how his life will be with cancer and a gimp leg. I am considering a wheelchair. I could als use some information on those as well. Where to get them? Good prices? Maybe rental programs? What to expect when trying it for the first time? Etc. Anything helps.

Thanks,

Krystal & Mac

I will celebrate the remission and continue the prayers and good thoughts that the rest of his treatment knocks the shit out of the rest of it.  Please keep us posted.

Hi everyone. I haven't been able to be on here in a while. It is nice to see such support. I wanted to report that Mac has gone into remission and is about half way done with his chemo process. We don't know what stage he was at when he began treatment but I am in hopes that we caught it soon enough to keep it away for a while.

I am very sorry to hear he has Lymphoma, and my heart goes out to your furry child Mac. If you ever need a shoulder, I'll be there, and I'm sure the rest of the corgi community will be too.

I am sorry for what you are all going through! Don't have any info but maybe if you joined the wheelchair corgi's group someone would have some good info?

Howsoever you get through all this, get through it together.

I am so sorry you are going through this. We lost our first corgi (Bailie) to lymphoma about a year and half ago. Our corgi was thirteen and had other health issues (severe heart murmur & severe arthritis) so we decided to treat her with low doses of prednisone because her heart could not have tolerated the higher doses or cancer treatments. It is heartbreaking but it sounds like you have options due to his young age, our vet told us that lymphoma was one of the most treatable canine cancers in otherwise healthy dogs. Good luck, I pray he gets better!

Krystal....I am so very sorry to hear this.  I don't have experience with either but I want you to know that you and Mac have my thoughts and prayers for this journey.

Krystal...my heart is breaking for you.  We lost our little Stitch to Lymphosarcoma in June.  You can read about our journey here at "Stitch's Story".  We fought together for almost year.  Please feel free to ask me anything...I had a very hard time finding anything to help me.  I was literally grasping at straws to try to help him.  We decided to go the holistic route and he was happy for all but a handful of days and we savored each day together.  I've been there....I'm here if you need me
