today machete got his may barkbox! it barely shipped 2 days ago, so we were pretty surprised to see it. but hey, swag for the puppy, so yay!
i vaguely remember barkbox saying something about focusing on outdoor activity type things for this month's box, but i haven't really noticed a "theme" to any of these boxes so far. this one is supposed to be a celebration of summer events? but look, we got all these goodies:
it seemed to be a bit more sparse a barkbox than normal, but that's ok! more importantly: BETTER PACKAGING! YAY!! no more of those annoying paper shreds that get all over the damn place that i have to scramble to pick up and toss before machete (or the cats) get ahold of them! yay yay yay yay! finally! i hope they stick with this new packaging, because it's much, much better! thank you, barkbox!
the first thing in the box that was so awesome was this ball, from planet dog.
machete was very interestedin this ball, and quite pleased with it. he played with it all the rest of the evening. i was just lamenting bouncy balls with tennis fluff, and how there is a dearth of good, fluff-free balls and today we get this squishy ball. yay! and it has a decent bounce to it, too!
next we got a giant pig femur from barkworthies:
we generally love barkworthies, and i know mr. muffin-butt was super interested in this item, but we're going to take a pass on it for the sake of his chompers. we have some friends with big dogs, so we'll let them enjoy. after all, we're a fan of sharing the love around here.
next up was a bag of green juice dog biscuits from bocce's bakery:
these biscuits look to be really awesome, made of human-grade kale, spinach, apple, spirulina, flax seeds, and mint! we'll probably use them for his bedtime biscuits, as they're a bit large for everyday training treats. and they look a bit crumbly.
and finally, we got these grill-icious beef treats from loving pets:
these, i'm not sure about? i hope they can be broken up into lots of tiny pieces, or at least smaller bits. they say they're gluten-free, but i wouldn't mind finding out the calorie count for them, because we try to be careful of the treats we give our little pup. low cal & grain free for the most part, if we can help it.
and so, that's our barkbox for the month! looking forward to next month's box, but in the meantime we have quite a few awesome things to go through while we wait.

I got mine today finally!! We got a bouncy strawberry and instead of the femur we got a bully stick and this chicken chew thing. I think it's due to Ein being so little still. I'm still debating on those grill worthies as well.
Well, he certainly looked interested.
Haha, almost. If they stick with this better packaging, I may let him open them up all by himself. He is old enough to show interest in the boxes and gets excited when we open them now.
Has he learned to open his own boxes yet?
Lance was a spoiled pup and Santa brought lots of Planet Dog stuff for him as a pup, we found out to go only with toys that had a rating of five out of five, or four out of five, with the exception of the snowball ball. The dice were really cute, but lance could destroy it and the tennis balls he also was able to destroy as a pup.
@Natalie: Yes! I think I remember you saying that Lance & Tucker love their Planet Dog stuff now that I think about it! YAY! I gotta check out this bouncing strawberry thing!
@Jen: the barkbox fb page has a $12 off coupon code for new subscribers, btw.
I didn't get mine yet. Sadz.Hopefully I will by Tuesday.
Im always promoting Planet Dog!!
Man, these monthly posts have me so tempted to sign up for a Barkbox for Yuki and Ellie!
