does anyone else have a corgi that HATES water? Meeko just simply hates it, he refuses to go outside when its raining will not go swiming when me and my boyfriend do and looks like he is being punished when getting a bath? I thought for the most part all dogs loved water? When I brought him home at 9 weeks he would always stick his foot in the water bowl when he drank but he doesnt even do that anymore. He is licking himself dry at the moment because I wouldnt let him in till he pottied( took 6 mins) if i didnt know better I'd think he was a cat?!

My male Corgi Cash is the same way! He won't get in the lake or anything! My girl, and my mom's, seem to be much more brave though. Also, their mom and her other 2 daughters LOVE the water... more than usual!

Sidney HATES the water! When we hike and have to cross a stream, we have to carry him, LOL. I thought after taking hydrotherapy when he was recovering from hip surgery, he'd learn to like the water, but noooo. We put him in the fountain after a long walk on a hot day and you'd think we were punishing him!

Mia and Herky don't mind the rain, they don't seem to even notice it, but they did not like the little pool.  I had to bribe them by throwing treats in it for Mia to get in. Herky never did get in on his own.  Herky doesn't mind a bath, he just stands there but Mia attempts to escape...they both can swim as we had them in the big pool but they didn't care for it. Mia likes to put her whole face in the water dish and shake her head around, especially if there are ice cubes in it.

I am hoping next summer they will enjoy it more. I know I have read other peoples postings saying their corgis took a while to decide they liked swimming

Lance and Tucker both dont like stepping in wet grass!!!  Lance tolerates his bath pretty well, and Tucker tries fighting us to get out (we rescued Tucker 5 months ago), although the second bath with us seemed a bit better than the first.  I think there are alot of corgis who are picky about rain.  The key is to just pretend its not a big deal, there are times I have picked up Lance and set him in the wet grass and he will then go, of course using the go potty command.

Leena is about the same way.  She doesn't "hate" rain, but she will not walk through puddles.  We gave her a bath last night, and with all the struggling, I'm surprised she didn't hurt herself.  She uses every muscle in her body to fight me and find a way out of the tub, and for a 22 lb dog, she is powerful!
