Sidney has a sister! We adopted her from our local Humane Society this morning. She has been spayed and has a chip, but the person who answered the contact number declined owning her. They think she is three years old. She's very sweet and gets along with Sidney and also our kitty, Sally. She's tiny, only 19 pounds. For now, we are keeping her in the loft upstairs with my daughter, until Sidney and the other dogs get used to the idea of her being here. While my daughter has her upstairs, there will be some training going on! She has a strong ball drive, loves to fetch and will sit on command. But only sit, so we've got quite a bit of training to do.

She's settling in nicely. Her ball obsession has toned down a bit; I think she's feeling more secure. She walks better on the leash and goes into her crate at bedtime when we tell her to. We're dealing with some itchy skin issues right now, hopefully it's just hayfever and not a food issue. It has been really dry and windy here the past few days.

Hi Geri, I think it has been over a week since you last posted.  How are you doing with her?

Hi Sandy! We don't know if that was really her owner, they could have moved and forgotten to update their contact info with the microchip people. It's a good reminder to update whenever you change phone numbers!

Hi Geri! Congratulations on the addition! How sad that the previous owner declined owning her, but lucky for her you were out there!

Hi Jane! So far so good. SHe's adjusting well. SHe has a little separation anxiety and barks when we are gone ,so we might try a citronella collar, or we are open to other advice. Other than that, she's awesome!

How's Connie doing????

I'm betting what you're seeing *is* her true personality.  :)  Ellie has been a go-getter since day 1 (and is also obsessed with fetch!) and she also barks when someone is at the door/entering the house.  The fuzz-free Chuck-It balls are going to be her best friends!

Congrats, she's a pretty girl!

Thank you everyone! Gahh, what was I thinking? Kidding...kind of. She's sweet, no big issues so far. It's just a shake-up to our comfortable routine. I could really use some words of advice/encouragement. She's very different from Sidney. She's affectionate and very energetic. SIdney is mellow. She's living in the upstairs loft with my daughter but spends time downstairs with the rest of us. She gets along with everyone but wants to play ball all day long! It's like trying to watch an energetic toddler. She was secured alone upstairs for a little while while everyone was out today, and she was barking when I got home.

SO, how long is it again until they settle in and their true personality shows? What's a good guideline for trusting them? Before Connie, we could leave the two senior dogs and Sidney alone in the house for hours, no problem. I wonder when we can also trust Connie?
