My name is Janet and I work as a teacher in a northern community called Aupaluk in Northern Quebec. (see picture below for an idea of where it is).
There are about 150-200 people who live here, and about 50 students in the school. I teach from grade 7 to 12.
The first week all the new teachers were in Kuujjuaq for an information session to get us prepared for living and working in the north. We were also not allowed any pets so Blackie couldn't come with me. She also had to get spayed so she stayed home for that.
From September 17 to 21 we will be in Kuujjuaq for another week getting all kinds of cool teacher training, again, no pets allowed. We're not even allowed to take them on the charter plane.
So Blackie is at home with my mom waiting to come to be with me. I really miss her. My mom is getting really attached to her to and doesn't want her to fly up to see me. She says she should stay at home with her. I just bought her, she's my doggie, I really miss her, and I want her to be with me.
Planning her transport from Nova Scotia to here has been really hard as well. I went and hired a firm to do it because I just couldn't plan it all myself. I really can't wait for her to be here with me!
The 21st can't come soon enough! 12 days!

Hi!! I am also from Nova Scotia, living in Montreal. Actually I am now in Ottawa doing my teacher training. I will have to get some info from you as my plan is to come up North when I finish and bring my corgis as well! :)
Perhaps your mom needs a dog of her own?
Thanks everybody! I can be pretty lonely up here so I can't wait for her to come and be with me! All my new friends here can't wait for the new addition too!
Our furbabies become such constant companions, that we really feel a void when they are not with us. I bet she is missing you, too!
I hope you are reunited soon!
She will be such good company for you! Good for you taking a teaching assignment in such a remote area...everyone deserves an education!
