New Corgi to family of non corgi owners

Today is his 3rd day with us. Little corgi still unnamed. The girls were outside and wrote with chalk "My dog is the most awesome!" on my patio. Later I found a few kids out back jumping and playing. Then they were in the front, corgi and all...he just stood by my youngest, where she went he went! I saw her looking into his dog crate and he was beside her peeping in too. I thought they had a cat in there but it was just Josh, the smallest kid in the neighborhood. Our corgi just couldn't understand why he was in the crate! I could read it on his face! My daughter would walk away and leave him there. I watched a worried or curious little corgi stand guard over the dog crate while the other kids played a few feet away. He'd look in, look at the other kids, then look in and put his nose on the cage door. Someone kicked a stuffed squeeky ball we gave him and he went over and got it with his mouth, dropped it at the door of the crate and peered in. Josh tapped the cage door for him to move. Then my littlest girl let Josh out, and our little corgi made a B line for his crate! Poor guy! That's his bed! They pulled him out and Josh went back in! That poor corgi circled the crate so I came out and sat on the porch to watch. It was nice out. I was worried because he didn't have a leash on. Our little "Toby, Taco, Thunder" or whatever they tried out on him may run off. But no! He was one of the gang.
He just followed my youngest! If she went across the yard he'd follow if Josh was not crated. Then someone called for him and he grabbed the ball and my oldest reached for him and he ran off bouncy and ready to be chased! I had to laugh at him bouncing and running! It was sudden! I have only seen him trembling and scared. I heard he really got bouncy after they handfed him and threw a ball that morning. I love him so much but really love how he fits with my girls! This little corgi sits calmly and watches them. He ran to me when he noticed me on the porch and sat by me!

I threw his fuzzy ball in the house before I left for work and when I came home he'd put it by him on the couch! Guess he loves his toys! I"m so glad the family decided last night to name him Bandit. He's such a sweet little guy.

One of the things I always tell people that ask about the corgis is not to get one unless you plan to add a family member. One of the really fun things about them is they want to be involved in everything. Your puppy sounds great.
