Many in the pacific northwest are obsessed with the search for big foot.  We, however, spend our weekends trekking the trails in search of Al, the Great Mountain Corgi.

This weekend we bagged our first peak.  So, Al, if you are out there, watch your tail (oops) I mean, little corgi butt.  We could be right behind you.

This is Scorpion Mountain.  I saw your wta trip report for Sunday 8/21 and saw that we missed you by one day and one turn on a FS road.  Dickerman was an option for Saturday, too.  So close.

Naw, the angle seems wrong, too far south? Could this be Fortune Mt., Evergreen, or maybe Scorpion? If it's Sunday 8/21/11, on Fortune or Evergreen, and the meadowy ridge in the center of the photo is West Cady Ridge... we could be in the picture.
You came so close. Now, alerted to pursuit, Al will be wiping out his tracks.

Al is impressed, but don't even think about it.  The Pembroke Welsh Marmot is too wily to be observed unawares.  I don't know how he knew you were going to do West Cady Ridge on Saturday, but he arranged for Gwynnie to do Mt. Dickerman with me on Saturday 8/20/11 -- she was right behind those peaks when you took this photo -- and he hiked up West Cady to Benchmark Mt. with me on Sunday 8/21/11.  A pity, the subalpine wildflowers will probably peak next weekend... but you gotta hike West Cady in perfect visibility, because of the views; from there, you can count many peaks that Al & Gwynn have climbed.  Find Johnson Mt., then note the curiously unnamed 6562' peak beside it -- the Blue Lake High Route very nearly summits it -- we call it "Little Johson" -- A & G have each slept on it a couple of times.

Al also recommends Dishpan Gap and Blue Lake High Route (North Fork Skykomish, same trailhead), Pilot Ridge (from North Fork Sauk) and White Pass (2-3-day loop).

I understand that Al is like the wind, we know not from whence he comes or to where he goes.  He is a mystery, a riddle, a legend.  On the other hand you might just keep an eye out for John Wolff, he's a lot taller than Al so might be easier to spot.
