Our little girl is doing so well!
We went to a farmers' market last Saturday, with lots of people and other dogs walking around. Baya was in "Baya heaven!" "People of all ages to admire and pet me!" We pulled a bit on leash to go visit people while walking, but when Mom stopped, I quickly learned to sit quietly and let people come up to me and pet me. People were really polite, requesting permission to pet before approaching.
Also, our class work is really paying off. We were out for our after breakfast walk this morning in the backyard (done with flexi lead since we do not have a fenced yard), and Baya noticed there was a dog in the yard next door. (The dog has been living there all along, but she is older, and doesn't often come outside.) Of course, being the protective corgi that she is, she was going to take off to the end of here flexi lead and let that dog know that she was here! However, Mom said to come, and at first she came halfway back, and then Mom said to come again, and Baya came all the way back to her. Then Mom figured it was a good time to try some other commands while the distraction was going on, and Baya did her sits and downs very nicely.
(Of course Baya was still growling under her breath to make sure the other dog knew she was still paying attention to her.) Mom praised her mightily for being such a good girl, and we went happily back into the house, having accomplished what we originally went outside for, and something extra beside.
