:( Indy was running around in the lawn today and all of a sudden I hear a big yelp. I look over and she's yelping in pain limping on her front right foot. I checked her paw pads and her nails which were okay, but it hurts her to put pressure on that foot. So, now she's laying on a blanket finishing a yogurt treat. Looks like we're heading to the animal ER tomorrow. I knew at some point in life she would accidentally get hurt... so scary! Any advice or tips are greatly appreciated! During a time like this reminds me of how grateful I am to be part of this community.

Indy seems to be doing much better. She is able to walk this morning and even started to run when she knew it was time to go into the crate for a little bit... lol. I think I will wait until tomorrow to see how she is doing and take her to her doctor (as opposed to er). She's taking a nap right now : )

Thanks everyone for your help. Gosh, I nearly had a heart attack when I heard her yelping in pain!

Snickers had done this several times as well. Usually within 24 hrs he's fine. My father is a vet and he just told me to watch him for that amount of time before we did the whole x-ray thing. And he was right! Some times they just twist it 'just right'.

Keep an eye on her, if it is something light, it will go away in 2 days with good rest.

lots of rest is in order......keep Indy somewhere that she cant get too rambuctious, like a gated off room. The kennel is a good place to rest too during the day and night, but may want to switch off places to rest for different scenery.....since I have a feeling Indy will need plenty of rest for the next week or so for it to heal. If it starts to heal and they get too active they will aggravate a sprain and makes it take longer to heal. Unless it is really bad, you can probably wait til Monday and call your vet but while waiting to see your vet keep Indy very rested. You can use ice packs to help the swelling.

just try to keep her as clam and quiet as possible, maybe in her kennel at night when you cannot watch her continuously. Some people are VERY cautious about giving baby asprin but I have been known to give my two one to give them some relief from inflamation and discomfort. Hope she is feeling better very soon.

You may be lucky (or unlucky) to have a slight sprain. Duncan did the same thing when he was about 5 or 6 months old. Rushed him to the vet's for x-rays, and they couldn't find anything. It was at that time, my vet suggested feeding him large breed puppy food. It has less protein than regular puppy food, which is better for their growth plates in the legs to get established better. Someone on the site told me what it was earlier, and I can't find that thread.
Hope everything is okay. Have fun keeping a puppy quiet during the heeling time.
