The Parade was really a Mustang car show... but still fun!

Okay, so I got some bad information somewhere and the parade downtown was actually a "festival" on the street with a bunch of Mustangs from the local car club. Still fun. The weather was reasonably nice, but I kept forcing Dex to drink as much water as I could. I brought his bowl and a bottle of water in a tote, but it was cumbersome to carry around so I bought one of those spiffy bottled water attachments that turns into a portable makeshift pup bowl for outings.

I think he enjoyed it. I try to take him out as much as I can, and let as many people pet and talk to him as I can. I want him to feel very comfortable with people and other animals. My boyfriend and I live a very social lifestyle and I think having a social dog would be beneficial. :D We took over a bench in the shade where he took a nap while listening to a local orchestra group play patriotic tunes. ^o^ Was a nice day, and lots of people stopped to pet him.

I was particularly proud of Dex for his interactions with children. He doesn't jump up on people anymore, and when I say "be nice" he calms considerably. Two little kids asked to pet him and when they approached the little girl poked his nose with her finger. I was expecting him to try and chew the finger (he is starting to teeth) or playfully nip at her but instead he licked and nuzzled her hand. ^___^ Such a good boy!

It is fun to bring a corgi out to events, it makes you realize just how much corgi love is in the community. Almost every person who approached me to pet him knew someone that had one, or had one themselves at one point. An old war veteran ranted to me for 10 minutes on how his old corgi Issac was the best dog he ever had.

Dex even got to go in the comic book store in Pheobus, where he met the comic book store orange tabby cat, and perused the Star Trek section for possible purchases with me.

This morning my BF took him to the vet and we got a positive check out! He is 11 lbs even, and she said he looks very healthy. (I really am glad I changed his food from Purina Puppy Chow to the Chicken and Rice Blue Buffalo mix) He got another dewormer, his Kennel Cough vaccination, and his final series of distemper. In 3 weeks he will get his rabies vaccination, and then at 6 months he'll be neutered and then we'll be all done.

As far as an update on the food aggression issue, he has improved quite a bit. I took Beth's advice and have seen a world of difference. Thanks Beth! ^____^ He doesn't growl at all when I try to take the bowl away, or when I mess with his food.

P.S. He's finally starting to shed his puppy fur. It is all over my car, D'oh!!! Haha

Glad to hear he's doing better with his puppy food aggression. It's wonderful that you are taking him out to meet people and experience things. Socialization is key! Just be careful at this tender age to protect him from snappy dogs, extremely loud noises or other frightening experiences. He's a little cutie.
