Hey my name is Giselle and I'm from the Netherlands. Ceri is my purebred corgi boy of 9 months. Because corgi's aren't that popular in my country, and kennels like to keep it that way, you find seldom a corgi in a shelter. Perhaps thats a good thing.
So as some of you have noticed my little boy still has his tail. People aren't allowed to bob them, and it's a bit over the top to breed them just so they naturally won't have them. I mean, it's about the general health and character of the dog, not his naturally bob.

That said I must say the choice of the breed is something I cherish. One of my hobbies is watching japanese anime. Some of you may be nodding for they know what is comming next.
One of those series is called Cowboy Bebop. I just loved it and still do! When I saw it for the first time and that's probably over 6 years ago. I was just captivated by the absolutly charming dog that became the mascot for those space cowboys.
The first thing that rushed through my mind was, if I ever get a dog, it has to be that one (well the breed anyways). But knowing anime is often the product of some very creative mind, my heart dropped when I thought it was a dog too good to be true. So I placed it in the imaginary corner.
When I was visiting my best friend and her adorable scottish terriër I made it for myself clear I really wanted a dog. But just not any dog, it had to be the Cowboy Bebop one, not remembering the breed I litterly scanned through all the breeds and as you may have guessed I started at the A only to grow more desperate when I began running out of letters. And when I came at the letter W you may say I had already lost hope of finding the breed. When I finally reached Welsh corgi cardigan, Welsh corgi pembroke, I can't describe the joy and relief I felt. Within a week I searched and found day by day the pieces of the puzzle fitting better and better. Right kennel, right pup, right name. Well prepared I went on a 3 hour journey and didn't have to think twice when Ceri came walking up to me. The time I spend there talking to the breeders, he didn't lose me out of his sight. I could take him right with me because he was a leftover from an earlier nest. He is overly playful and has a little bit black in his tail and over his back so nobody wanted him. But I couldn't be more happy, he's just perfect!

That's how I came to get the best thing in my life

Thanks for all your touching remarks! I just can't imagine how somebody didn't want him. The breeder had a new litter a few weeks after the one with Ceri and people could have seen and bought him, but still they picked the ones from the new litter, very strange, but maybe that's how it had to be.

Giselle, your story was so beautiful, it made me cry. I love the way you told your story and your love for Ceri stands out strongly. I am so happy that you and Ceri found each other. I loved how you told of searching the dog breed list and getting desperate as you got to the end of the alphabet.

I bet your friends and fellow pet owners are very jealous.

Our son's Ringo Starr was the last one in his litter, and a runt. But he was so wonderful, that after puppy-sitting one weekend, we had to go out and get one of our own; Torri, who is Ringo's half sister. They are such a joy when we get them together. Torri is our precious baby, but Ringo will always be special to us.

Besides which, the last ones had more time with their litter mates, and are more sociable with other animals.

I always figure the ones that leave later end up the best as they have much more time to spend learning from their parents and others! Many times there isn't a color concern it's just what people picked 1st!

My Guinness was a bit of a leftover too. He was 3 months old when we got him. He has a round spot of tan on his neck so he was considered unbreedable and unsellable. But I love him to pieces and wouldn't trade him for anything!

We always said that whoever worked on Ein in the anime series had to have known or owned a corgi. This is a sweet story and I'm happy you found one another. You're right as well - a little discolor doesn't mean it's a bad dog!

Roxi was the second last in her litter. She's our discount puppy :) and I couldn't be happier.

Haha I know, Ein looks so cute in it. And I like the fact that the series portray their quirky and intelligent nature! That's what stayed with me.

I remember when I first saw Cowboy Bebop too! I was so excited to see a corgi in it! Congrats on your baby Ceri. We are glad you found each other!
