I have heard varying opinions on this but in our case Sparty at 8 months to a year decided to pee on our toilets. (I know, trust me I did clean the outside of the toilets carefully) After his neuter he never did it again. Either the surgery made a difference or he was afraid of what we would cut off next if he did not cut it out!!

my Mom has a 14 yr springer named Bud that has marked on and off through out his life she noticed that he did it more during times of stress like new puppy's coming in, during and a for a little while after moves, and times when she was stressed put about whatever so he might be picking up on changes in his enviroment or yours? She would use a belly band on him inside the house during these times. Oh and Bud was nuetured as a puppy also. I've always had males and mine have never marked. But I do beleive that nueturing will help.
