Well, tomorrow is the day we're going to visit the shelter (4.5 hours away) and meet the Corgi we really hope to take home. And boy, am I excited and nervous, so I hope I can sleep tonight. We bought most of the stuff we will need for the trip home with him (fingers crossed). Here's a list of stuff we're bringing:

Leash
Car harness
Treats
Stuffed toy
Doggy bags
Doggy wipes
Water with a bowl
Sheet
Towel

And here's our plan: We're driving there tomorrow morning and will meet him whenever we get there. If they decide we are the right people to give him his forever home they will take him to get neutered the next day. We booked a cheap hotel to stay the night so we won't have to make the drive twice and so we can bring him home as soon as possible. We'll drape a sheet with a towel under it over the back seats (the towel only because it's a long drive and we don't know if he will get car sick) and secure him with the car harness. I really hope he'll be comfortable, especially since he will have just come out of surgery hours earlier. Will he most likely just be out of it the whole way home? I'm hoping so because I can't imagine being woozy and in pain and in a moving car for hours would feel very good. Anyway, we'll buy a crate for him and his food after we meet him and the shelter staff (to see how big he is, and also to ask if he has any known allergies or intolerances).

We still haven't picked a name!

Keep us in your prayers!

Hello everyone, I hope my new icon doesn't confuse you! His neutering went well and he did great on the way back. No accidents or anything. We stopped once and it took him a few minutes to find a spot to pee but when he did.. Man he really had to go! I'm so glad he's house trained (at least he seems to be so far). :) He's home now and sleeping like a log. We bought a 36"L crate when we got back to town and after I set it up and put a pillow in, he went right in and laid down! He also slept with his head on my husband's lap for a while, so he's definitely bonding to him. Anyway, we ended up thinking of a name for him on the way home. Vivi! It might sound weird at first, but it really fits his personality. This is Vivi from Final Fantasy IX.

Congratulations! I know you've been wanting one for a long time. I'm glad to see you've got one now. He's such a cutie. I'm glad you'll be giving such a handsome dog a really good home.

That's great! Have you picked a name yet? I'm sure his surgery will be just fine. Neutering is no big deal.

Do you know how he came to be in the shelter?

How exciting! Sidney says "Sorry man...no sweat on the surgery though, you'll be running around before you are really allowed to" :)

Oh yeah. Please pray for his neuter surgery to go well tomorrow. I don't know what we would do if something happened. :(
