Well, tomorrow is the day we're going to visit the shelter (4.5 hours away) and meet the Corgi we really hope to take home. And boy, am I excited and nervous, so I hope I can sleep tonight. We bought most of the stuff we will need for the trip home with him (fingers crossed). Here's a list of stuff we're bringing:

Leash
Car harness
Treats
Stuffed toy
Doggy bags
Doggy wipes
Water with a bowl
Sheet
Towel

And here's our plan: We're driving there tomorrow morning and will meet him whenever we get there. If they decide we are the right people to give him his forever home they will take him to get neutered the next day. We booked a cheap hotel to stay the night so we won't have to make the drive twice and so we can bring him home as soon as possible. We'll drape a sheet with a towel under it over the back seats (the towel only because it's a long drive and we don't know if he will get car sick) and secure him with the car harness. I really hope he'll be comfortable, especially since he will have just come out of surgery hours earlier. Will he most likely just be out of it the whole way home? I'm hoping so because I can't imagine being woozy and in pain and in a moving car for hours would feel very good. Anyway, we'll buy a crate for him and his food after we meet him and the shelter staff (to see how big he is, and also to ask if he has any known allergies or intolerances).

We still haven't picked a name!

Keep us in your prayers!

Beautiful pic! I hope it all works out for you and you get a new addition to your family! He should be pretty groggy from the surgery so my guess is he will sleep(my only thought is if he could go potty before you leave for home then you could make it home without stopping)! Sometimes the name comes after you get the dog! I got Livvy(Olivia) but I knew I wanted to name her Gwenneth so I got tags made and then Gwenneth did not fit her at all! Yes good idea with a crate and make sure you get one big enough...I would suggest if you buy a crate while you're waiting to pick him up that this would be safer for him after surgery and in case he has an accident from him being groggy! I will never forget the time our big Weimeraner mix got fixed, we made it to the front of the vets office and here is this drugged large dog that couldn't hoold it anymore!

Good Luck can't wait to hear/see about what's his name!
