Winter's Finally Arrived on the Prairies

Well, we held out as long as we could. Forecast for the upcoming week is snow and lows of -10 Celsius (that's about 14 Fahrenheit) with overnight lows of -20 (-4 Fahrenheit) with the wind chill. Winter’s a-coming.

My fall jackets got moved to the basement this weekend, and my snowpants came out of the closet.

Casey booties came out of hibernation too (much to her chagrin).

We got some snow in October, but it didn't stick around. We usually get snow in December, and then it sticks around until April/May.

Casey perks up in the fall with the chill, but come January/February we regularly get several days-long stretches of -20 to -30 Celsius weather (about -4 to -22 Fahrenheit) and then she can't walk more than a minute or two without lifting her paws in pain. Even with the booties, -22/23 Celsius is about her limit when she's obviously physically uncomfortable outside.

whoa, that's chilly! I find my guys just perk up so in the fall and winter, and droop in the humid summer. No snow yet?
