If you look at our pics of Al, he looks like a red from the front. Gwynnie, whose sire is a BHT with almost no red, kept some faint black on her face (if I have it right, her paternal tri gene must be BHT). Both were all black/white to begin with. The red comes in on face, shoulders, hips, legs. BHT (Black Headed Tri) is recessive to regular tri. Interesting article on coat color genetics at PWCCA website. Take lots of photos first year; the change is dramatic.
Your pups seems to have much more red than Al or Gwynn even at later ages.
The importance of appearance will fade.
There IS a disadvantage to the black coat: it gets HOT in summer sun. Only time I have to wait for them is above timberline with no shade. I just ordered a "ChillyBuddy" cooling vest; haven't tried it yet but looks like best design.
I'm not an expert, but looks like you have a red-headed tri girl. She'll probably be keeping that black saddle of hers. The male looks like a tri to me, too. He looks like he has that solid black saddle, as well. I think he's much too dark to be a red/white or sable/white.
Here is a page with the colors shown as puppy vs. adult
Again, I am no expert and may be wrong.
