There's a group on My Corgi for Therapy dogs "in training or want to be's...Sage and I belong to Therapy dogs Inc. out of WY and our local group also belongs to TDI. Right now we visit about twice a month but would like to more often. The group I belong to usually goes about 1 time per month and then Sage and I do our own visits about once a month and this does count toward the visits for our group also. I am thinking about Hospice also just have to figure out how i can fit it all in. No, you do not need CGC but I wanted it for sage's AKC title.
Corgis make wonderful Therapy Dogs:) Sage and I started with basic obedience, then 2 intermediate obedience classes (we took 2 because they only test for CGC once a year around here). We went to the AKC Kennel Club for the classes as I figured they would be best but many Pet Store also have classes so you could check them out also. There's a group for Therapy Dogs in Training for you also should you decide you want to go this route. It is so full filling and Sage is just great. We go to Nursing Homes, Assisted Living Homes, Memory Care Units and have now started are going to start visiting a person on a ventilator. We belong to Therapy Dog Inc.(you can check it out online) and also joined a local group that goes some of these places but also to schools and we just a Christmas visit to a Barnes& Noble for the kids there. I do bath her a day or 2 before a visit when possible and then a quick brush before we go in. If you are thinking of it I would surely suggest you "go for it" ...the smiles on peoples faces and being able to have a furry friend visit brings many great pleasure. Sorry to ramble on. If you have more questions just ask.
Thank you for the compliment, but I have to give credit to my husband. I wanted to name our corgi Wilson, but he wanted Noodles. Once we saw that little face though, he looked more like a Noodles than Wilson. Welcome to you and Webley!
Your corgi's are beautiful. I lost my Pembroke to colin cancer when he was 13. I miss him so greatly. I come to this site and admire all the dogs. I would love to have a Corgi again but the cost of GOOD care and GOOD food keeps this retired grandma from getting a dog. Thank you everyone for the pictures.
Hello! Yes, our girls are Harry Potter corgis. Our human daughter is the world's biggest fan....we wanted two girl names that went together and she came up with Hermione and Luna. (Guess which one is the smart one! : )
Awww, thanks so much for your sweet words. Yes, I have to agree with you they are sweethearts. Thanks for the compliments on the pics, as you can tell I enjoy taking pics just a bit, lol.
I love the pics you put up, so sweet. Ahh, they grow up so fast. Lance just turned 6 in October and Tucker 4, although we have only had Tucker 8 months, but feels like we have had him along!! Looking forward to seeing Tucker in the snow for the first time, well at least our first time with him, its almost like having a pup, without having to go through the puppy phase a second time.

Thanks! We were over at the park this morning - isn't it fun to have a dog when the weather channel says it "feels like -10"?!
