How cool! Yep our Shockoe is from South Haven, he'll be 2 years old next march. His parents are Evie and Edwards Haynes. =D Jackson is so cute! He's got that SH charm about him =)
Bryan usually likes other corgis. But he decided that he didn't like the male of a new pair in the neighborhood. We're working on it. The other day I took Bryan and Tara to see Bryan's longtime corgi pal Tucker. They all got along great. And he was good at a Corgi Meet-up we went to a couple of months ago--aside from wanting to play kinda rough. Thankfully because he is such an adorable lummox, people liked him anyway. It's his charm... tee hee!
I recently learned something about our newly antisocial corgsters. Someone told me about an article on "Rottie Love." I never did find the article, but the essence of it (according to her) was that dogs become who they are at the age of 3. If there are things they've put up with prior to that time, they may just stop putting up with it. Yaaargh! We're still struggling with Bryan and strange dogs. But he is improving -- I really think bringing in "little sister" Tara has helped. He's learning to share and is actually being really sweet a lot of the time. There are still lapses though. More later. Running out of space.
p.s.: (I ran out of space in the last post). We are using Victoria "It's me or the Dog's" techniques (giving treats as we see strange dogs approach to distract him and give him positive associations with the presence of other dogs) and Tara has ALREADY been a tremendous help-- even though the first 2 days we really wondered if we'd have to take her back. Good luck to you!
Hi... about our mutual problem: When the woman came to do the home visit for Tara, I mentioned the problem with Bryan being suddenly testy and difficult. She asked his age. When I told her that he had turned 3 in February, she told me she had just read an article. It stated essentially that: "Dogs become who they are at 3. If they have been putting-up with anything up til then, they may not anymore." YAAARGH!!! Thank God, we've been working with him and he's much better. We decided that we should have gotten his sibling earlier. But since we didn't, we are so grateful that Tara is like she is. We doubt anyone could dislike her!
Your Welcome! Glad you enjoyed Lances video!! We were out in the backyard for an hour and he was "snow tunneling the whole entire time, first time I have ever seen him do that. I really got a kick out of it. I have more videos of Lance on my page.
Jackson is obviously a star. We're sorry to hear about his feetie thing. Bryan pulls the hair from between his toes in the winter. And we really have to watch out for salty walks and streets that burn his feet. Trouble is, he still has his dew claws. They get in the way when we put boots on him. So he HATES them. They really help with the salt and cold though. And he looks so DARN cute! Best wishes to Jackson (and you). We're glad to count you among our friends! Bryan & Robyn
