haha that's true! Let me know the next time you're thinking of going. I have not been to a dog park yet..the only place I take Gibson is to a lake in Sycamore, and I let him off leash when no one else is around (which is always) :)
Hi Kerby, I'm finally catching up on my correspondence with my new friends. Lucy has such captivating eyes...shes really a cutie! With such a nice figure, too. My Tommy is looking like a foot stool. Of course food is his life! I mean he even eats things that aren't food.
I ended up postponing it because nobody could make it. :( Maybe I'll be a little less ambitious and try to set up a dog park meet-up. Do you & Lucy have a favorite one in or near Chicago?
Awww, I'm so sad I missed the corgi picnic! I'm glad everyone had so much fun. :) Please let me know if you'll be able to make it to the corgi hike at Starved Rock on Sunday, Oct. 12th. Thanks!
Thank you for the compliment! I really enjoyed hosting the corgi picnic, and everything seemed to turn out just fine! All those corgis seemed to love running around and frapping with each other. I hope to see you next year!
Sophie is the tri color puppy. Lucy is almost 5. We did have another tri color (Shelby), but had to put her down unexpectedly about a year ago. That's when Sophie came into our lives. They are such great dogs!
I don't think this one was ever prosecuted. It was pretty small by Missouri standards, but the rescue group that I worked through takes in a lot of mill dogs. They tend to go after the big ones. Maybe they would know something about her. Forever Friends out of Kansas City is the group I got her from. Did she come with papers? I don't have any papers on Fern. What was the name of the "farm" she came from? I would like to know a little bit more about Fern as well, but haven't had much luck. She is so small compared to my other Corgis--I actually wondered if there isn't a cross with a Jack Russell somewhere in her lineage...I suppose a mill breeder would never share that. Kerby looks like a delight. She actually looks a bit like Fern in her face shape and body type.
I don't, but I might be able to find out. Although, I have had trouble getting responses from the rescue organization. All I know is that they said it was a "small" puppy mill. Only 70 breeders. Sounds big to me, but I guess there are many with hundreds of breeding dogs. They were going to pare it down to about half that. It was an elderly couple that ran the mill. Not as bad as most since they regularly let the dogs out of the cages to run. If I find out more I will let you know. Why do you ask?
I know! When I saw you were from Batavia, I got excited :) I hope I can make it too, Gibson will still be pretty young then, so I wasn't sure if he should go. What dog park do you take Lucy to? I'm already researching where I can take him to, and saw one in St. Charles and one in Aurora (but you have to pay for that one). Let me know!
Kerby thanks for the invite to the Illinois Corgi get together but we will be unable to attend as we will be out of town. :( Sounds like it will be a fun time.
