My other Corgis were all from good breeders so we had them all from 8 weeks on. I love the puppy stage! Okay maybe not all the peeing and pooping, but that part really doesn't last that long. I also love the adult stage when they mellow out a bit. I think as far as rescues go, Fern has been easy...so far. Unfortunately there are plenty of Corgis (and other dogs) that will need rescuing so when you are ready for your next Corgi, and you know you will want another one, there will be one waiting for your loving home! Enjoy little Mikko ;o)
I'm so glad it is working out with Fern--thanks for the encouraging words. Congrats on having little Mikko home! He is so darn cute.I love the profile picture.
You are going to have a great weekend! Corgis are addictive...in my experience ;o) I am up to four! Enjoy your new little one. Expecting lots of pictures next week!
Hi Danielle. So how to handle a Corgi. Firstly and I mean absolutly firstly dont let them believe they run the show. They are really smart when it comes to acting like the boss and although most people think they are nice little puppys and great to play with, they have a working background and at times could have a tendancy to lash out. So as they have no hands, well they might just snap instead. Thats my experience. Dont get me wrong, I love Corgis, amazing personalaties, and all so different. Just remember, they might look like and act like " do what they are told couch potatoes", but they are certainly not. Have fun and watch the furniture.
Micko is beautiful. Is he your first Corgi? Dont let the puppy eyes fool you. They are the most determined Dog I know with amazing smarts and can have you jumping through hoops. I know the last thing you want to do with a cuddly minature bear is be a little strict, but take it from me..cause my Old Boy is 12 and genuinly believes he is King of the Castle. Wish he would pay the mortgage. Best of luck with him. PS. If you are going to have him in the house, watch the furniture.. They have a bordom threashould ,of 5 minutes at that age. And when the serious teeth arive.!!
Welcome Mikko. . .you are precious. . . .thank your mommy and daddy for sharing you with us. . .I bet you can't wait to come home to them. . .you'll love it cause you'll have parents that will love you always. . . .
