We flew bulkhead business class with Lucy. The flight attendants let her stay in her sherpa at our feet, but kept threatening to have to move her. The seats on Delta's business have no room underneath for any size Sherpa. Lucy's 20 lbs. She did great. I did better with the help of a bloody mary! What airline did you fly? By yippy I meant a barker, YIP! Yip! Rafa yips when he wants Lucy to play, he even yips at his toys. Rafa is a handful. He is full of life and mischief. Corgis fur, I've been told, has some oil that repels dirt. Lucy gets a bath only when she needs it, which is maybe once a year, it that. And people always comment how clean she is. Rafa is my first tri. Sounds like he's about the same age as Ziggy. From the photos, it doesn't look like Ziggy has a lot of his puppy fuzz. Rafa does. He really looks like a baby...and he acts like one too. I have to stop comparing him to Lucy, our 4 yo r&w. She's a perfect little citizen. We can take her anywhere. But, when she was a puppy, she was a handful too. We'd tell her "no" and she'd bark at us. Some days she was Lucy but mostly she was Lucifer. I forget how long it took to train her. Rafa's my 8th Corgi. They are all different, yes?

I flew with Ziggy to Denver (Boulder really) a few weeks ago and she did great. She was so quiet that the attendant came by and said that I would have to put my carry-on in an overhead compartment (I was sitting in Bulkhead seat. I said that would be a bit tough on the puppy; surprised, she banished me to business class! Corgi upgrade! I don't know what "yippy" is. Ziggy is only 15 pounds so quite small still, which is fine by me. I guess the chewing and mischief is normal; I've just forgotten what puppies are like. Her birthdate is in March 2010 but can't remember the day at the moment. I gave her her first and only bath (she stays clean for some reason) in Boulder and she was a total wimp; did not like the blow dry one frigging bit! She's a wus at the Vet too. My other Corgi was 100% compliant so this is an adjustment. They're all different!

cheers

@steve - less is more, no? we have to travel to NY a couple of times a year and I really wanted small corgis to fly in passenger with us. I was just worried bec. he was so underfed when we got him.

Rafa is almost 5 mo. and weighs 15 lbs. He was very well behaved at the vet and was an instant celebrity with the staff. They loved him. He just looked so skinny, but he's doubled his weight since we got him about a month ago. We never have had overweight Corgis. I'm the only one that needs a diet!

Is Ziggy a yippy puppy?

Rafa too. He's quite a handful. LOVES to misbehave and has chewed out most of the irrigation drip lines to the potted plants, and tries to chew through all the TV, stereo wires and furniture. Haha. I, too, am covered in bandaids...sharp baby teeth. I'm taking the rascal to the vet in a few minutes. We'll see what his weight is.
PS Whoopsie. quite the slip w. Forest Hills. What's Ziggy's birth date?

Very perceptive of you Jack & Wendy, re the tribute to Zoe with the "Z" continuation. Ziggy is still pretty small, only 14 lbs and doesn't seem as crazy about food as Zoe was. Your Rafa sounds alot like Ziggy; Ziggy is awfully cute and VERY outgoing but more "Corgi", in the sense of being rambunctious and stubborn, than I remember my other two to be. I'm hoping the mischievousness will diminish with time. She's a handful. I've lost a lot of skin and electical/computer cords from her teething. Personally, I wouldn't worry about the size; I think it's far healthier to be light and small. Yes? (tip of the cap to Rafa).

P.S. you're dating yourself with referring to the Open as being in Forest Hills (I went there years ago but it's been in Flushing Meadows for a couple of decades or more :)

My reaction to the name wasn't harsh, I merely made fun of it for three weeks. ;-)

@steve- it'll be our secret. doug and a couple of other friends (not on mycorgi) had harsh reactions to the name. but, rafa it is. it's the only name he responded to, and if his character is anything like nadal, we could ask for nothing more. the NY open is in a couple of weeks, no? haha. i'm writing sentences like rafa speaks. how cool if he won the US and is one of a small group to win all 4 slams? I love Ziggy. She is so much bigger than Rafa. What's Ziggy's DOB? I have no info. really about Rafa and am a bit worried about his size. But, he's a charmer––no fear, totally trusting, loving and rambunctious. A true corgi. All he wants to do is kiss lucy. She's getting used to this behavior & isn't rolling her eyes and snarling when he tries to kiss her even at delicate times! she's starting to love him right back. i'll keep you posted.

PS haha. we're in w/drawal between basketball, the French/Wimbledon and the US Open. We're big college and pro basketball fans, and football. But baseball doesn't do it for us. so it's nail-biting time til Forest Hills.
