We brought our adopted 10 months old corgi boy today. He is just they guy we hoped for. Monday is his vet's appointment to get neutered. Poor Tod. But 'you gotta do what you gotta do'....

He does have a serious flea problem. I think I counted around 20 fleas on him as we rode home! I did give him a Capstar tablet, but he still keeps chewing on himself:(

What was that I hear about DAWN soap? Is that supposed to kill fleas as well?

He tried lifting his leg to mark his territory in the new house. Hopefully, neutering will help. But I want to have Tod next to me through the day, but he has to stay mostly in his crate now....We stay right next to him, and take him out a lot.

Darn fleas!!!!

That Earthbath Tea Tree shampoo is awesome.

Aw, he looks so much like Sidney! Love that blaze on his nose.
Even with Capstar killing the fleas, his skin will still be sore (like when your mosquito bites keep itching long after the mosquito has dined and dashed!). Maybe a bath in a soothing natural dog shampoo will help. We used Earthbath Tea Tree Oil & ALoe or Oatmeal & Aloe. It's a great brand and he'll smell great too.

Congrats on Tod. He is absolutely adorable and looks happy. Neutering will probably help with the marking, but take time to teach him not to mark. There are ways to deter it if he continues to mark.

Congratulations on Tod! Yes, plain blue dawn dish liquid does kill fleas. But if you've used Capstar, you shouldn't need it. Also, it can dry the skin something awful. Once Tod is neutered, your vet can give you some flea drops. The cedar chips will help. Also, some bedding spray is good too. I like Adams the best. Neutering mayhelp with the marking, but again may not. It will take a few months for the hormones to leave his system. Be patient! And enjoy that great corgi boy!

Congratulations on your new family member. I've heard about the Dawn treatment, but it would tend to be a bit harsh for your dogs skin and the result might be dry skin for Tod. i wouldn't recommend it and I would suggest something made specifically for dogs. Cedar chips in Tod's bedding will work as a natural repellant and will smell good too! Neutering Tod should help with the marking, but every dog is different and he may still occaionally lift his leg to mark.

How exciting!. You are in for so much fun!
