"Alison he's hurt, I don't know what to do!!"

That's the message I get at work. I rush home to see my puppy. He wouldn't put his paw on the ground, and touching it would make him yelp. The vet asked what happened and I told her I did not know, that I was just informed by a roommate that he was hurt. They had to anesthetize him in order to get a proper x-ray of his foot:(

My poor boy has a broken toe. I guess I can be thankful that it is not his whole leg, but having to wear a cast is stressful for the both of us. I have to go back to the vet once a week to change it out...(that's if it makes it a whole week)

I have to carry him down the stairs until it gets a little better....(he's 36lbs). When I take him outside in the morning the cast gets soggy from the dew. He insists on licking it when he comes back into the apartment...bah! I can tell he is unhappy... We went from going to the park every afternoon, to sitting at home all day. poor boy!

Hopefully it will come off sooner than 8 weeks!

To prevent it from getting wet you may want to try a cover for it. At the vet office I work at we carry it, it is called Medipaw. It is a boot that goes around the cast to prevent it from getting wet and having the pet lick at it.
Good luck

Seems like a lot of corgis have broken toes at one time or another since I have seen it posted several times on here. I wonder if it because they don't pick their feet up very high due to the short legs! Hope he is all better soon.

@ Sam- I have always tried to watch odin's weight. I worried that he was fat, but after this past corgi meet up I have realized that he is taller and longer than most corgis there. I have cut his food back since we cant swim nor go to the park. lol I am always asking people if they think he is getting fat, and they tell me no since his ribs are still really visible. The picture above is weird just because he's laying funny. I feel that I drive people crazy because I stress over his weight haha. Here is a recent picture. I value any other opinions on his weight.

His skin is also really loose compared to other corgis I pet. I can grab more than a handful on his chest..

You can tape a bag over it to keep it dry, that may help it last a bit longer. Hope Odin feels better soon.

poor Odin, try and get him back to a good weight, that will put less stress on his joints. Get well soon!
